Position Overview:

The Gate Attendant serves as a key point of contact at St. Louis Cemetery No. 1, managing guest access and providing frontline service for ticketed tours. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to safety and preservation policies, and a professional, welcoming demeanor. Gate Attendants are stationed at the cemetery gates and are responsible for verifying entry, supporting tour group flow, and offering information to visitors and potential customers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to) Access Control & Tour Coordination Verify entry eligibility for ticketed guests, staff, and Family Pass holders; deny access to unauthorized individuals. Collect tickets from approved tour groups and open/close gates in accordance with the tour schedule. Direct all non-ticketed individuals and inquiries to the Tour Desk at Basin St. Station. Conduct regular inspections of tour routes and behaviors to ensure compliance with safety and preservation policies. Guest Services Greet tour guests with professionalism and assist with entry process. Provide accurate information regarding tour times, ticketing procedures, and company policies. Respond to visitor questions about cemetery tours and direct potential clients to appropriate sales channels. Safety & Security Maintain a clean and orderly gate area, free from litter or obstructions. Monitor guest activity, report incidents, and assist with emergency response procedures as needed. Enforce all cemetery and company safety guidelines. Other Responsibilities Communicate guest concerns, safety issues, or suggestions to the Tour Supervisor. Support tour operations and uphold the company's professional image. Complete other duties as assigned by the Tour Supervisor or Manager.

Requirements:

Qualifications Strong verbal communication skills and a welcoming, service-oriented attitude. Ability to enforce access policies clearly and respectfully. Familiarity with New Orleans Catholic Cemeteries Family Pass guidelines preferred. Professional appearance and demeanor with consistent punctuality. Ability to work independently in an outdoor setting and manage multiple interactions calmly. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and remain outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions. Ability to lift or move up to 20 pounds occasionally. Capability to stoop, kneel, reach, and move about the cemetery terrain.
