Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
Dinosaur Adventure is a traveling family entertainment show bringing prehistoric fun to cities across the country. We are looking for a talented, reliable, and easygoing Face Painter to join our touring crew. This is a road-based position — you will travel, work, and live alongside a crew of 7-8 people, so personality and crew compatibility matter just as much as skill.SCHEDULE & TRAVEL
Our schedule shifts week to week based on routing and venue. Here is how a typical week flows:Move-out:
typically Monday or Tuesday, sometimes Wednesday- Travel and move-in to the next venue: usually the following day
Setup:
generally Thursday or Friday- Show days: Saturday and Sunday, with some Fridays included
- We tour the entire United States throughout the year — no two weeks are the same Flexibility and a go-with-the-flow attitude are essential.
HOLIDAYS
We generally do not hold shows on federal holidays. During holiday weeks, crew members receive a travel allowance to help cover the cost of getting home so you can rest and recharge with family or friends.COMPENSATION
- Base OR Commission Base Guarantee
- $700 per week guaranteed — you will always take home at least this amount Commission
- $1.25 per face painting ticket sold
- Weekly draw against commission: you receive whichever is higher — your $700 guarantee or your earned commission total
- Strong show weekends with high ticket volume mean stronger paychecks Additional Earnings & Perks
- Tips are 100% yours to keep
- Lunch provided on show days (Saturday and Sunday, and select Fridays)
- Travel allowance provided during federal holiday weeks to help cover the cost of getting home
HOUSING & ACCOMMODATIONS
All housing is covered by Dinosaur Adventure for the full duration of your time on the road — from the moment you leave home until you return. There are no out-of-pocket lodging costs.- Hotel or Airbnb accommodations provided every night on tour
- You will share a room with one other crew member, each with your own bed
- Room assignments are always same gender/sex — you will never be paired with someone of a different gender/sex
- If there is no other crew member of the same gender/sex on the tour, you will have your own private room
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide high-quality face painting for guests of all ages throughout show hours
- Engage warmly with families and children — you are a key part of the guest experience
- Assist with setup and teardown alongside the crew at each venue
- Maintain your supplies and workspace in a clean, organized manner
- Represent Dinosaur Adventure professionally at all times
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Demonstrated face painting skill — portfolio or photos required with application
- Reliable and punctual — our schedule depends on every crew member showing up
- Easygoing and adaptable — road life means flexibility and a good attitude go a long way
- Team player who pitches in beyond their primary role
- Comfortable with extended travel and shared living arrangements
- Experience with children and family audiences preferred
