SEMCO Summer Student - Public Awareness / Damage Prevention

Job Description Position Summary The Summer Student role is designed to provide college students the opportunity to learn about AltaGas and gain meaningful, hands-on experience in a professional environment that aligns with their career goals. Tasks and Responsibilities Eligibility for summer employment will be determined as follows: The student must be between the ages of 18 and 25. The student must plan to be enrolled as a full-time student for the 2022 fall semester. The student must be driving and possess a valid driver's license for at least a year, and be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Safe Driving Policy. The student must be a child of an active employee, disabled employee, or retiree. Only one student per eligible employee or retiree will be hired as a summer employee per year. A maximum of 4 years of employment is available for each eligible student. (These last three restrictions may be waived based on business needs or geo graphic availability.) In this role you will: Conduct neighborhood and residential-area outreach by distributing

door hangers and safe-digging educational materials. Visit residential construction sites, municipalities, rental equipment businesses, and contractors involved in irrigation, landscaping, fencing, decks, pool, etc installation to promote

awareness. Engage with homeowners and community members to reinforce the importance of contacting

before any digging project. Support SEMCO operations teams by assisting with community education efforts and helping reinforce safe digging practices in the field. Share information on safe digging practices that protect workers, the public, underground infrastructure, and the environment. Help ensure homeowners understand proper procedures, including submitting a

ticket before excavation, promoting responsible digging and reducing excavation-related incidents.
