Working at the Visit Duluth Visitor Information Center, this role is often the first point of contact for people exploring the city and the North Shore — offering personalized recommendations, local insight, and friendly support that reflects Duluth's character and sense of place. Visitor Experience Specialists help visitors feel informed, inspired, and excited about their time in Duluth while supporting daily visitor center operations. Summer hours for the Visitor Center are 11:30am-4:00pm, 7 days a week. Key Responsibilities Ambassador & Visitor Experience Serve as a frontline ambassador for Duluth, providing warm, inclusive, and engaging service to visitors and residents Share local knowledge, recommendations, and storytelling about Duluth, the North Shore, and surrounding region Tailor recommendations based on visitor interests, length of stay, accessibility needs, and seasonal considerations Create positive first and last impressions of Duluth through friendly, authentic interactions Visitor Center Operations Staff the Visit Duluth Visitor Information Center during scheduled shifts Assist visitors with maps, visitor guides, brochures, posters, and general destination information Support light merchandise sales and transactions Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming visitor center space Materials & Information Support Monitor inventory of visitor guides, brochures, and informational materials Restock displays and help keep materials current and visually appealing Share visitor feedback, common questions, and insights with the Visit Duluth team to support continuous improvement Team & Community Support Represent Visit Duluth in a professional, approachable, and positive manner Work collaboratively with fellow staff to ensure consistent, high-quality visitor experiences Support special events, peak seasons, and community activities as needed Schedule & Employment Details Part-time, seasonal position Shifts may include weekdays, weekends, and holidays, based on visitor center hours and seasonal demand Flexibility is important, as schedules may vary during peak tourism periods and events Compensation Starting pay: $15.00 per hour What We're Looking For Friendly, outgoing, and approachable with a genuine interest in helping people Strong communication and interpersonal skills Curiosity about Duluth, the North Shore, and local experiences Comfortable interacting with a wide range of visitors and people Reliable, adaptable, and able to work independently during assigned shifts Comfortable using basic technology such as point-of-sale systems (Square), phones, and digital tools (training provided) Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, tourism, or retail Employee discount + free summer parking!
