A.D. Camps is hiring Outdoor Adventure Guides for the R.A.D.
Adventures program:
van-based field expeditions to lakes, rivers, lava caves, waterfalls, forests, and backcountry locations across Central Oregon. This is a dedicated Adventure Program field-guide role. It is not a bike, climbing wall, studio, classroom, or campus recreation position. Guides lead groups of elementary and middle-school campers into the field every day, working in guide teams with a max of 12 kids per van. The job requires WFR-level judgment, strong outdoor competence, calm group leadership, and the desire to spend long summer days outside. R.A.D. Adventures is built around 50+ destinations, free play, exploration, Leave No Trace, and real outdoor experiences. Some days are alpine lakes and swimming. Some days are lava caves, waterfalls, rivers, forts, creeks, ridge walks, fishing, or long exploratory missions. The guide's job is to keep the day safe, organized, adventurous, and alive without turning it into a scripted classroom. Why this role stands out Lead real field days instead of a general childcare or campus program. Guide kids through the classic R.A.D.
Adventures experience:
vans, trails, water, caves, lakes, forests, and wild places. Use Wilderness First Responder judgment, outdoor leadership, route awareness, weather judgment, group management, and field communication. Work with a team that values safety, grit, autonomy, Leave No Trace, parent trust, and professional guide culture. Paid pre-season training is included. What you will do Lead and support daily R.A.D. Adventures field expeditions from Seven Peaks into permitted Central Oregon locations. Manage safety boundaries, head counts, water/swimming judgment, trail movement, van routines, gear checks, weather decisions, and group energy in backcountry and off-site outdoor settings.
Facilitate free play and exploration:
hiking, swimming, creek play, fort building, lava-cave exploration, waterfall missions, fishing, ridge walks, and curiosity-led adventure days. Keep kids supervised, included, emotionally supported, and moving safely through changing terrain and changing conditions. Apply WFR-level thinking to prevention, first response, evacuation decisions, incident communication, and documentation. Teach and model Leave No Trace, stewardship, resilience, calm risk assessment, and respect for wild places. Communicate professionally with families, teammates, and leadership before and after field days. Required qualifications At least 21 years old. Current Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or WEMT certification, or proof that certification will be current before field leadership begins. Valid driver's license and clean driving record; van driving is central to this role. Available for paid staff training June 12-14, 2026. Strong in-person availability June 15-August 28, 2026, Monday-Friday. Prior backcountry guiding, expedition leadership, outdoor field leadership, wilderness-trip leadership, camp expedition leadership, or similar field-based outdoor group-leadership experience. Strong safety judgment around water, terrain, weather, kids, vehicles, gear, group movement, and emergency response. Professional, punctual, reliable, physically capable, emotionally mature, and genuinely excited to spend full summer days outside. Able to pass a background check before employment. Preferred experience Youth expedition guiding, wilderness guiding, camp adventure leadership, backpacking, paddling, river/lake supervision, lifeguarding, outdoor trip leading, search and rescue, military/outdoor leadership, ski patrol, trail crew leadership, or similar field experience. Strong comfort with water days, backcountry trailheads, uneven terrain, heat/smoke/weather decisions, field communication, and parent-facing professionalism. WFR, WEMT, lifeguard, Swiftwater, Leave No Trace, food handler, or other outdoor/safety credentials. Experience leading elementary or middle-school age groups in high-energy outdoor environments.
