Job Description

Rail Bike Tour Guide Awakening Rails Pennsylvania LLC is the operator of Secret Valley Excursions, a rail bike tour operation in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. We are seeking fun and outgoing individuals to serve as rail bike tour guides for the 2026 season. These are part-time, seasonal positions available from late May through early November. We offer flexible schedules for those who would like to work up to five days per week or just a few hours per week. Partial-season employment is available, making these positions especially ideal for students and teachers. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in railroading, cycling, or outdoor recreation.
Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years old Must have reliable transportation to and from the station Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, including pedaling up to three four-mile rail bike tours per day, with or without reasonable accommodation Must be willing to submit to a criminal background check and drug screen in accordance with applicable laws First Aid/CPR certification preferred
Duties:
Engage with customers in a polite and friendly manner Ensure the safety of guests and fellow employees at all times Lead or follow tours by rail bike to monitor the track for hazards and assist customers as needed Assist customers with boarding and disembarking at stations and turnaround locations Move rail bikes between the storage track and boarding area Turn and reposition rail bikes at each end of the line Provide safety and operational briefings prior to each tour Perform light maintenance on equipment Provide first aid in the event of an emergency Staff the ticket, will-call, and merchandise area Answer calls on the customer service line Capture photos and create content for use on social media Share knowledge of local railroad history and the surrounding area Perform other duties as assigned Spend your summer outdoors on the rails, meet people from all over the world, and be part of a unique and growing industry in a fun and supportive environment.
