This role is perfect for someone who loves being on the water, enjoys sharing local history and nature with others, and prioritizes safety and customer satisfaction. As Captain, you'll lead guests on memorable tours, highlighting the lake's unique ecosystem, history, and stunning scenery.
Responsibilities:
Operate and navigate the tour vessel safely on the Great Salt Lake. Provide engaging, educational commentary about the lake's natural and cultural history. Ensure all guests receive a thorough safety briefing and follow safety protocols. Monitor weather, water conditions, and adjust tours as needed for safety. Perform inspections and routine vessel maintenance. Deliver an exceptional guest experience that promotes return visits and positive reviews.
Requirements:
Valid Utah Boating License (or willingness to obtain before start date). CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before start date). Familiarity with the Great Salt Lake and Utah boating regulations. Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills. Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with eco-tourism or wildlife tours. Background in education, natural sciences, or local history. Mechanical aptitude or experience with vessel upkeep. Multilingual or bilingual skills are a plus.
Compensation & Benefits:
