Job Description

Position Summary:
The Door Guys are responsible for managing entrance operations, ensuring guest and staff safety, verifying age compliance, and creating a welcoming yet secure environment for all patrons. This position requires excellent judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to handle challenging situations professionally.
Key Responsibilities:
Check valid identification for all guests and maintain strict compliance with Virginia ABC regulations Manage entrance flow during peak hours and special events Collect cover charges when applicable and maintain accurate cash handling procedures Monitor guest capacity to ensure compliance with occupancy limits and fire codes Maintain a professional, welcoming presence while enforcing house policies De-escalate potential conflicts and remove disruptive patrons when necessary Communicate effectively with management, servers, and bartenders regarding guest flow and potential issues Assist with closing procedures including final walk-throughs and securing the premises Maintain awareness of emergency exits and safety protocols
Required Qualifications:
Must be 21 years of age or older Ability to stand for extended periods (4-8 hours) Strong communication and interpersonal skills Excellent judgment and decision-making abilities Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure Physical ability to handle security situations if needed Reliable transportation and flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in security, hospitality, or customer service Knowledge of conflict de-escalation techniques Familiarity with Virginia ABC laws and regulations
Work Environment:
This position requires standing outdoors in various weather conditions and working in a high-energy environment with loud music and crowds. Hours are Thursday-Saturday nights, with occasional shifts for special events.
Compensation:
Competitive hourly wage commensurate with experience
