Position Summary Servers at Il Segreto are responsible for guiding guests through the dining experience with confidence, professionalism, and genuine hospitality. Successful candidates possess strong food and beverage knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to anticipate guest needs while maintaining composure in a fast-paced environment. We are not looking for order takers. We are looking for hospitality professionals who can thoughtfully guide guests through an evening of exceptional food, wine, and service. Our servers are expected to be knowledgeable ambassadors of our menu, wine program, and restaurant culture. Primary Responsibilities Guest Experience Welcome guests warmly and establish rapport. Create memorable dining experiences through genuine hospitality and attention to detail. Guide guests through menu selections, daily features, and beverage pairings. Anticipate guest needs before they arise. Maintain a polished and professional demeanor throughout service. Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally. Foster relationships that encourage guest loyalty and repeat visits. Food & Beverage Knowledge Develop comprehensive knowledge of all menu offerings. Learn ingredients, preparation methods, and allergen information. Maintain a strong understanding of Italian wine regions, varietals, and food pairings. Confidently recommend wines, cocktails, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages. Participate in ongoing food, beverage, wine, and service education. Service Standards Execute all steps of service according to Il Segreto standards. Maintain awareness of dining room flow and guest needs. Accurately enter orders and communicate effectively with kitchen and bar teams. Deliver food and beverages efficiently and professionally. Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked stations. Process guest payments accurately and efficiently. Consistently uphold standards of excellence in every aspect of service. Teamwork Support fellow team members throughout service. Assist with opening, closing, and side work duties. Communicate effectively with managers, hosts, bartenders, and culinary team members. Contribute to a positive, professional, and collaborative culture. Help establish and maintain the standards that define the Il Segreto experience. Qualifications Preferred:
Minimum two years of restaurant serving experience. Fine dining or upscale casual experience strongly preferred. Wine knowledge preferred; enthusiasm for learning is essential. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Professional appearance and demeanor. Ability to remain calm and organized under pressure. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. Exceptional hospitality candidates without extensive fine dining experience are encouraged to apply.
