The High Tide Server embodies the soul of Pacific Island hospitality, where the relaxed beach culture meets the refined artistry of elevated dining. This role will guide guests through a culinary journey that blends fresh California ingredients with Pacific-rim inspired flavors. By delivering impeccable service , the Server will uphold La Bahia Hotel & Spa's service standards (inspired by Forbes) while elevating our beachfront property.DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITY
Deliver genuine, unhurried service that reflects the welcoming spirit of Pacific Island culture while maintaining luxury standards. Master our seasonal, coastal-inspired menu to passionately describe dishes, their origins, and preparation techniques. Curate perfect pairings from our curated selection of tropical cocktails, local wines, and craft beers. Execute polished yet approachable service for multi-course dining with impeccable timing. Anticipate guest needs while maintaining the effortless flow of a beachside retreat. Maintain detailed knowledge of dietary restrictions and ingredient sourcing to accommodate all guests. Share the story of our Pacific connection through thoughtful interactions and menu knowledge. Enhance the atmosphere by attuning to guest moods - from romantic dinners to celebratory gatherings. Collaborate with the culinary team to bring dishes to life with engaging presentations. Upsell thoughtfully, enhancing the guest experience with curated add-ons like premium oysters, chef's tasting selections, or after-dinner libations. Assist in maintaining a visually stunning dining space—reset tables with care, ensuring island-inspired décor (e.g., woven accents, ambient lighting) remains impeccable. Navigate high-energy shifts with poise, multitasking without compromising service quality. Attend daily pre-shift meetings and ongoing training to refine skills and stay updated on menu changes. Adhere to all safety, sanitation, and alcohol service standards. Maintain impeccable grooming standards, wearing the assigned uniform exactly as specified (proper fit, cleanliness, and presentation at all times. Wear the official hotel lapel pin prominently as part of the uniform requirement, unless embroidered onto uniform. Perform all other duties that may be assigned as needed by your manager. (3+) years of serving in fine dining or upscale restaurants, luxury hotel and/or resort preferred Passion for food, mixology, and storytelling—ability to convey the restaurant's island-inspired concept with charm Strong wine/cocktail knowledge; certification (e.g., WSET, ServSafe Alcohol) a plus Ability to thrive in a dynamic, music-filled setting while maintaining attention to detail Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time Multilingual abilities highly preferred Capable of maintaining composure during peak hours Capability to carry trays and service items (Up to 25-30 lbs.) Excellent communication skills Flexible to work in different shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays Highly organized with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Ability to work independently and in a team environment This role offers a dynamic work environment where your contributions directly impact the guest experience.
