Full Job Description About This Job:
As a Banquet Server at the Trumbull Marriott Shelton, you play a vital role in creating memorable experiences for our guests during special events. You contribute to the smooth execution of banquets and events, ensuring exceptional service and guest satisfaction. Your attention to detail and commitment to teamwork directly impacts the success of our events and the reputation of our hotel.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides exceptional banquet service to guests, ensuring a positive and memorable experience. Sets up banquet rooms according to event specifications, including tables, chairs, linens, and decorations. Serves food and beverages to guests in a professional and timely manner. Practices safe food handling techniques to maintain hygiene and prevent contamination. Offers beverage service, including taking orders, preparing drinks, and serving responsibly. Ensures tables are properly set with appropriate silverware, glassware, and centerpieces. Communicates effectively with guests and other team members to ensure seamless service. Collaborates with banquet staff to ensure efficient event execution. Handles cash and processes payments accurately using POS systems. Operates POS systems to record orders and process payments.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
Previous banquet serving experience is a plus. Experience in customer service is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of banquet service standards and procedures. Strong customer service skills and a positive attitude. Ability to set up event spaces according to specifications. Understanding of safe food handling practices. Knowledge of beverage service and responsible alcohol service. Proficiency in table setting techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Basic cash handling skills. Familiarity with POS systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in food safety or responsible alcohol service.
Physical Requirements/Work Conditions:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry trays of food and beverages (up to 25 pounds). Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
