Summary Busser/Food Runner is responsible for serving food to guests, clearing tables and other areas of dirty glassware, flatware, dishes and supporting kitchen staff as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Always approaches all interactions with guests and employees in a friendly and service-oriented manner by maintaining a positive demeanor. Promotes a positive and caring work environment by addressing and resolving any conflict in a calm and poised manner. Responsible for delivering food orders from the kitchen to guests tables rapidly and accurately. Acts as the point of contact between Front of the House and Back of the House staff. Communicates food orders to chefs, paying attention to priorities (e.g. food allergies). Delivers food to guests at the proper table at the proper time, quickly and efficiently. Takes and serves food and drinks orders as needed. Maintains knowledge of the menu and all specials. Arranges table settings prior to guests being seated. Busses tables and cleans and sanitizes them as guests are done eating and leave. Ensures tables are enjoying their meals and takes action to correct any problems. Cooperates and communicates with all serving and kitchen staff. Adheres to all relevant health department rules/regulations and all customer service guidelines. Maintains a friendly attitude, attending all guests in an efficient and prompt manner. Collects used dishes and utensils from tables and returns them to the dishwashing area. Assists with inventory procedures. Alerts Supervisor about shortages or discrepancies. Ensures the kitchen, tables, chairs, displays, counters, sinks, utensils, shelving, and storage areas are clean and orderly, and complies with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards at all times. Cleans spills, re-stocks supplies, and wipes down tables, chairs, sweep floors etc. Inspects supplies, equipment, and work areas for cleanliness and functionality. Projects a professional manner with an emphasis on hospitality and guest service. Maintains a clean, healthy, and safe working area along with awareness of all sanitary practices. Supports other staff to ensure guest satisfaction. Follows safety and quality regulations. Handles guest complaints and solve problem to the degree possible. Performs any other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications 1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. 2. Minimum 1 year of customer service experience required, hospitality industry preferred. 3. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions provided in written, oral, or scheduled form. 4. Ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English in order to communicate with guests and team members. 5. Knowledge of reservation and POS systems. 6. Ability to work with computers and good knowledge of operating software preferred. 7. Must be able to multi-task and be detail oriented. 8. Must be a team player. 9. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a high degree of autonomy. The position occasionally requires the employee to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell. The employee will be required to lift, carry, walk, sit, push, pull, and work a flexible schedule including long hours, holidays, and weekends. Must be able to move continuously during work hours and to lift up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
