About Kumiko Kumiko is a Japanese Dining Bar in Chicago's West Loop, founded by Julia Momosé. Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a passionate, detail-oriented Front Server to join our team. The ideal candidate is dedicated to providing thoughtful and anticipatory service, thrives in a collaborative team setting, and is eager to deepen their knowledge of spirits, cocktails, and Japanese cuisine. This is a full-time role with opportunities for continued growth and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the guest experience with grace, precision, and professionalism from seating to farewell Execute menu knowledge across beverages and food, including the story behind each offering Deliver omotenashi-style hospitality—subtle, intentional, and deeply attentive Communicate closely with the kitchen and bar to maintain seamless service flow Anticipate guest needs and adapt quickly to ensure an exceptional dining experience Support sidework, prep, and cleanliness with pride and accountability
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience in a fine dining or elevated bar/dining environment Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset Passion for Japanese culture, cuisine, and hospitality is highly valued Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Self-motivated, coachable, and committed to excellence Compensation & Benefits Guaranteed compensation: $18-$23 per hour (s tarting base wage of $14/hour supplemented by service charges) Health insurance available for employees working 30+ hours per week Paid time off Sick leave Ongoing food, beverage, and hospitality education opportunities Our Ideal Candidate You believe that hospitality is found in the details.
