QUALIFICATIONS & DESCRIPTION
Individual must possess a high school diploma or GED. Experience in dietary or other food related service, preferably in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or geriatric setting. The primary purpose of your position is to assist the Food Service Department in food preparation, service, sanitation, and following the policies and procedures of the facility. Must take initiative in setting up meals, serving residents their meals, and assisting the Food Service Department by completing tasks assigned by the Food Service Director
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Must wear uniform of black khaki and assigned shirt or vest. Appropriate non-slip shoe. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, healthcare professionals, government agencies, and the general public Must possess leadership ability and be able to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the facility. Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age Must maintain the care and use of supplies, tools, equipment, etc. Must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel, as well as be willing to treat residents with dignity and respect Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and strategies and be willing to incorporate them into existing principles Must be able to follow written and oral instructions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position Must possess sight and hearing senses so that the requirements of the position can be fully met Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with team members Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and ability to work effectively with residents and personnel Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility • May be required to lift, push, pull, move equipments, supplies, etc. in excess of fifty (50) pounds Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents
RESPONSIBILITIES
Transport food carts, nourishments, refreshments, snacks, eating utensils, etc., to and from resident dining room. Be aware of and meet scheduled meal and snack times. Use equipment and supplies appropriately. Attend training sessions, meetings and in-services. Assist in serving meals and cleaning up of all dishes and silverware. Assist in preparation and service of food, beverages, salads, desserts, etc. Inspect dishes, silverware, cups, equipment to make sure it is clean before using. Care for and clean equipment after use. Clean and wipe down steam and serving tables. Keep condiment bottles and containers filled at all times and checking dining room refrigerators to make sure they are full. Clean and drain dish machine. Take garbage to appropriate waste collection area. Mop kitchen floor. Clean prep carts, including all equipment on cart. Clean beverage and coffee machines Begin preparations for all meals as directed by Dietary Department methods and procedures. Assist the cook as needed. Take directives from the cook, as it relates to the kitchen duties. Perform other duties related or assigned by the
