Job Description
The Maryland Club seeks an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a full-time Server. Maryland Club Overview The Maryland Club (MC) was founded on February 26, 1857, in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1891, the MC built its current clubhouse in Mount Vernon on the corners of N. Charles and Eager Streets (1 East Eager). The Maryland Club is a well-established social club with a diverse and inclusive membership. Within the Clubhouse is a blend of tradition and modern attributes in our dining areas, event spaces and a state-of-the-art athletics center. The world-class racquet sports facility includes three double squash courts and three single courts to qualify us as a highly competitive arena. The Maryland Club is where members form a camaraderie of life-long friendships and lasting memories. Position Overview The Server at Maryland Club goes beyond simply taking orders, guiding Members through the menu and offering recommendations that elevate both the dining experience and the overall Member's satisfaction. You are responsible for ensuring Member's enjoyment in the Maryland Club by providing exceptional service . This person is a true people-person who gains energy from engaging people in genuine and attentive interactions. They will create memorable and curated food and beverage experiences.
The Server primary duties include:
Welcome and acknowledge each and every Member with a smile, make eye contact, and use a friendly verbal greeting. Present menu and answer any questions regarding the menu items and specials. Take and serve food, beverage and dessert orders and communicate to the kitchen staff any special requests, allergies or dietary restrictions. Place orders on Point-Of-Sale system. Assist other Servers in their areas when appropriate. Complete any beginning or closing shift duties. Demands, Hazards and Working Conditions Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds on occasion. Must be able to stand, walk, and work on feet for extended periods of time. Requires grasping, writing, typing / keying, extended periods of standing, walking, repetitive motions, hearing, and visual acuity. Desirable Knowledge Skills and Abilities Server, and/or hospitality experience required Follow all health and safety regulations regarding food handling, alcohol service, and cleanliness Upbeat energy, enthusiasm, and positive attitude. Proficient verbal and written communication skills. Works well in a team environment and naturally exudes professionalism Can work well under stress or in high-pressure situations Required Experience and Training- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred Compensation
