Job Summary:
The Banquet Lead Server plays a key role in delivering exceptional dining experiences for our members and guests during events. This position leads by example, ensuring the highest standards of service, training, and professionalism. The Banquet Lead Server leads daily operations, supports the service team, acts as a liaison between members, guests, staff, and kitchen, and servers as the manager on duty during their shift. The Banquet Lead Server will work closely with the Director of Catering, the Director of Food & Beverage, and the Banquets Manager.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
Prior experience in fine dining or banquet environment; supervisory or lead experience preferred. Strong knowledge of food and beverage service. Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills with a member focused mindset. High level of attention to detail and ability to multi-task. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Able to lift 30 lbs. and stand for long periods on end.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Serve Safe Certification TIPS or other
Liquor Certification Key Responsibilities:
Hold pre-shift meetings before all dining periods and events to ensure staff are equipped with the knowledge and tools they need to deliver exceptional service. Provide attentive and courteous table service. Supervise and support staff during the duration of the shift. Assist in training the new staff in service standards, along with club policies and procedures. Monitor team members ensuring all opening and closing checklists have been completed to Midland Hills standards. Ensure that all spaces are presentable at the end of the shift. Oversee table setups, flow of service, and special requests to ensure timely and accurate food and beverage delivery. When needed, assist guests with selecting food and beverages by presenting menus; offering cocktails; suggesting courses; explaining the chef's specialties; identifying appropriate wines; answering food preparation questions. Make recommendations you genuinely feel the guests will enjoy and enhance the overall experience of the guests. Monitor and observe dining experience. Ensure satisfaction with the food and service. Respond promptly and courteously to any requests. Check the identification of members and guests to ensure they are of legal age to consume alcoholic beverages. Refuse to serve alcoholic beverages in a polite manner to members/guests who are not of legal age or are not able to produce proper identification. If consuming alcoholic beverages, observe behavior, count number of drinks served, and if you feel they should not drive, offer a taxi. During down time, maintain an active presence by cleaning, sweeping, polishing glasses, and performing other necessary duties. Assign some of these tasks to other servers as appropriate during downtime. Protect establishment and members by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies. Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return. Maintain cleanliness in all areas and ensure health and safety standards are followed. Step in to take tables during busy times to ensure seamless service. Collaborate with Management to improve service standers and enhance training for better satisfaction. Secure building at the end of the night.
