We serve a curated number of tables, and every one of our guests expects the very best. The expectation is that you will know your guest's names that done with us regularly. We are looking for a server who is not just filling a role, but elevating every experience they touch. What You'll Be Doing As a server at Kampai, you are the experience. You will manage a small section of high-caliber guests with precision, warmth, and confident product knowledge. This is a fast-paced floor where you will be on your feet for most of your shift — moving, anticipating, and delivering service at a consistently elevated level. You will also participate in opening and closing routines, including detailed cleaning, polishing, and staging of the dining room to ensure that every guest walks into a flawlessly presented space. Responsibilities Day-to-Day Expectations Deliver impeccable table service from greeting to close, including knowledgeable food and beverage recommendations Learn and retain the full Kampai menu, with particular depth in Japanese fish preparations — species, origin, texture, flavor profile, and appropriate pairings Perform thorough pre-service and post-service cleaning: polishing glassware, and surfaces; staging the dining room to a white-glove standard. Communicate proactively with kitchen and bar teams to ensure seamless timing and guest experience Manage schedule flexibility independently — if you need a shift covered, you secure coverage yourself before the schedule finalizes Represent the Kampai brand with professionalism, discretion, and consistently high standards of appearance and conduct. There will be a mandatory dress code, top uniforms will be provided. Product Knowledge Know the Menu. Own It. Our guests are discerning. They will ask about the difference between bluefin and yellowfin, between ikura and tobiko. They will want to know sourcing, seasonality, and texture. You will be trained on the full menu, but we expect you to bring personal investment to learning it — not just memorizing terms, but understanding Japanese fish cuisine well enough to guide a first-time guest and impress a seasoned one.
