We are seeking an enthusiastic, personable, and adaptable Server to join our team at Battery Park Book Exchange & Champagne Bar—a unique, fast-paced environment that blends a cozy bookstore atmosphere with an upscale café and bar experience. This role is primarily front-of-house, focused on delivering exceptional guest service, with opportunities for cross-training and support in back-of-house/kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Front of House (Primary Role): Greet guests warmly and create a welcoming, memorable experience Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently Serve menu items, including coffee, wine, champagne, cocktails, and light fare Maintain thorough knowledge of menu offerings, including specials and pairings Ensure tables and service areas are clean, organized, and inviting Process payments and handle transactions responsibly Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth service flow Back of House / Kitchen Support (Cross-Training Opportunities): Assist with light food preparation (e.g., sandwiches, small plates, desserts) Help with dishwashing and maintaining kitchen cleanliness Support food prep during busy periods or staff shortages Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
Qualifications:
Previous serving or hospitality experience preferred, but not required Interest in books, coffee, wine, or food service is a plus Strong communication and multitasking skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Flexibility to assist in both front and back of house as needed Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to lift up to 25 lbs Comfortable working in a dynamic, sometimes crowded environment
