POSITION SUMMARY
Food Runners are primarily responsible for assisting chefs with the preparation of garnishes, bowls, plates, and other culinary items. They play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth flow of food from the kitchen to the tables. Food Runners must possess a thorough understanding of the menu, including knowledge of all allergies and dietary restrictions. We are seeking candidates who are detail-oriented, efficient, and committed to delivering exceptional service.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
(not all inclusive): Assist chefs with the preparation of garnishes, bowls, plates, and organising other culinary items. Ensure all dishes leaving the kitchen meet quality and presentation standards. Run food from the chef's pass to the appropriate tables in a timely manner. Communicate effectively with servers regarding table numbers, food orders, and special requests. Maintain a thorough understanding of the menu, including ingredients, allergens, and dietary restrictions. Monitor drop times to ensure food is served fresh and hot to guests. Collaborate with kitchen staff to prioritize orders and maintain efficiency during service. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and food running station. Provide support to servers and other staff members as needed to enhance guest satisfaction.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Previous experience in a similar role preferred. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices. Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work efficiently under pressure. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Ability to lift and carry trays of food and other items as needed. Manual dexterity for handling plates, bowls, and utensils. Stamina to handle the demands of a busy kitchen environment.
