Job Description

Must be 21 years old or older to be considered
JOB SUMMARY
Maintains excellent service and enjoyable meal times for residents in the Independent, Assisted Living, and Memory Care dining rooms.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Works with the Dining Room Manager as necessary to achieve departmental objectives, and implements recommended changes as required. 2. Assures that all food service procedures are followed in accordance with established policies. 3. Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis; as well as a calm atmosphere throughout the department. 4. Assures that all meals served are palatable and appetizing. 5. Assures that meals are served in a timely fashion. 6. Assures that utensils are washed and cleaned as directed and returned to the appropriate storage areas. 7. Assists in maintaining the cleanliness of all dining rooms. 8. Assigns stations and cleaning/prep tasks to dining room personnel. 9. Assists in scheduling dining room personnel. 10. Assists in recruitment, interviewing, selection and training of competent servers, hosts, and bartenders. 11. Assists in supervision of wait staff, including disciplinary action which may be needed. 12. Hosts or serves in the dining rooms as needed. 13. Works as bartender as needed. 14. Assists in developing and implementing procedures which ensure supplies are used in an efficient manner. 15. Other tasks as directed or assigned.
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Kitchen equipment and utensils, carts, food service equipment, computer, general office equipment; other general materials and equipment necessary to the performance of job responsibilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
Education and Experience One year food service management experience in restaurant, or retirement facility dining room. Licenses and Certifications None. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of food service and dining room procedures and practices. Able to exercise independent judgment. Able to exhibit a professional attitude and work habits; outgoing, polite and neat in appearance. Knowledge of resident rights and the ability to respond to each resident with empathy and respect. Knowledge of policies, procedures, philosophies, rules and regulations governing the delivery of services to consumers. Ability to communicate clearly, and effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other departments and consumers.
