Job Description
A food runner is responsible for delivering food from the kitchen to customers' tables quickly and accurately while assisting with other dining room tasks to ensure a positive guest experience. This role acts as a key liaison between the kitchen and front-of-house staff. Responsibilities Deliver food and drink orders from the kitchen to the correct tables in a timely and professional manner. Inspect food orders for accuracy, presentation, and completeness before serving. Assist in setting up tables with plates, silverware, and napkins before service. Clear dirty dishes and other items from tables as needed. Maintain a clean and organized dining area, which may include sweeping, mopping, and restocking supplies. Communicate with servers and kitchen staff to ensure orders are correct and any guest needs or requests are met. Address minor guest requests, such as refilling water glasses. Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations. Support other team members as needed to maintain smooth operations. Skills and Qualifications Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Excellent attention to detail, particularly with orders and presentation. Physical stamina for standing, walking, and carrying for extended periods. A friendly and customer-service-oriented attitude. Familiarity with food safety and sanitation standards. Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting is a plus, but not always required.
