Process Server:
Independent Contractor (1099)
Job Summary:
The position is responsible for delivering legal documents, such as summonses, complaints, and subpoenas, to individuals involved in court proceedings in Middlesex County, NJ.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver legal documents to specified individuals in accordance with legal requirements. Ensure timely and accurate service of process, maintaining compliance with legal standards. Maintain accurate records of all deliveries and attempted deliveries. Communicate effectively with clients regarding the status of document deliveries. Conduct research to locate individuals when necessary. Adhere to confidentiality and ethical standards in handling sensitive information. Manage a caseload of approximately 25 to 35 jobs per week. Have a vehicle, printer, and scanner. Print work from home and sign and scan affidavits. Use CRM tool ServeManager to enter attempts and served information.
Skills:
Proficient in verbal and written communication. Basic mathematical skills for record-keeping. Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Education and Training Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. Training in legal process serving is preferred but not required.
Experience Required:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in legal document delivery or related field.
Physical Demands:
Ability to travel extensively within Middlesex County, NJ. Capability to handle physical tasks such as walking and standing for extended periods.
Work Environment:
Field-based work requiring travel to various locations. Exposure to various weather conditions during deliveries.
