Food Runner Position Type:
Part-Time Job Summary We are looking for a high-energy, detail-oriented Expo / Food Runner to join our team. This role is the critical bridge between the kitchen (Back of House) and the dining room (Front of House). Your main mission is to ensure that every dish leaves the line perfectly prepared, meets our presentation standards, and arrives at the guest's table piping hot and at the exact right moment. Line:
Act as the final quality control check for all dishes—ensuring correct temperatures, accurate modifications/allergies, proper garnishes, and clean plate rims.
Run Food Promptly:
Deliver food to guest tables efficiently, identifying dishes accurately upon delivery and ensuring guests have everything they need (utensils, condiments, etc.).
Manage Table Logistics:
Group and organize tickets so that full tables are served together.
Communicate Clearly:
Act as the central communication hub between servers and line cooks to resolve ticket discrepancies, timing issues, or special requests.
Stock and Maintain Station:
Keep the expo line stocked with plates, garnishes, trays, condiments, and clean linens. Maintain a spotless, sanitized workspace throughout the shift. Support the
Team:
Assist servers and bus staff when needed by pre-bussing tables or running drinks during peak rush hours.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
Previous experience in a high-volume restaurant environment is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person with a killer work ethic.
Pace & Stamina:
Ability to stand, walk, and carry heavy trays (up to 30 lbs) continuously for a 5-8 hour shift in a fast-moving environment.
Sharp Focus:
Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to memorize table numbers, seat numbers, and menu ingredients.
Cool Under Pressure:
Strong stress-management skills with the ability to stay calm, organized, and polite during peak rush hours.
Communication:
Excellent verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with both kitchen staff and service staff.
