Cook III/Server

REPORTS TO

Administrator for Child Nutrition and Cafeteria Manager

JOB GOAL

To prepare and serve students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness and friendliness

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have some experience in the production of quantity foods
• Possess the ability to successfully relate to students and fellow workers
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
• Pass the approved West Virginia Service Personnel Tests for School Cook
• Any combination of training and experience which would lead to successful employment as a cook
• This job is classified as requiring a medium-heavy work capacity

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

• Maintain the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen and cafeteria
• Must be able to use effectively all kitchen equipment
• Assist with determining the quantities of each food to be prepared daily
• Prepare food according to a planned menu
• Report to Cafeteria Manager any faulty or inferior quality food which is received
• Participate in staff development training as directed
• Demonstrate an interest in the school and in the welfare of the children
• Must be able to lift all equipment and food containers used in cooking (example: case of 6/#10 cans, grinders, etc.)
• Assist Child Nutrition Light Truck Driver to load truck for delivery
• Assist Cafeteria Manager in maintaining accurate inventory
• Maintain positive work habits
• Perform duties efficiently and productively
• Maintain and/or upgrade skills
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, Child Nutrition Administrator and Cafeteria Manager
• Currently classified cooks do not have to take the tests.
