Our name is a tribute to the fifth taste, known as "umami", which creates a deep, satisfying sensation of savoriness. Join our team as we venture to provide Michigan a destination for heartwarming bowls of ramen paired with sushi. We're not just a restaurant; we're a gathering place for friends, family and food lovers. We're excited to become a part of Canton's vibrant scene, serving meals that bring people together. Job Requirements Greet every Guest in a polite and timely manner. Provide accurate wait time when applicable. Answer phone calls and assist with inquiries or reservations. Quickly and accurately evaluate and manage reservations. Seat Guests efficiently according to seating system. Responsible for interacting with our Guests and ensuring they have a wonderful dining experience. Responsible for positive Guest interactions while serving them in a friendly, timely, and efficient manner. Handle guest complaints or concerns in a professional and timely manner. Assumes 100% responsibility for quality Guests' experience. Confidently and accurately answer questions about our food, beverages, and other restaurant information. Accurately take carryout orders from Guests and enter into point-of-sale system in a timely manner. Provide accurate wait time for carry-out orders. Package and deliver take-out orders from kitchen and bar to Guests in a timely matter. Collaborate with servers, kitchen staff and management to ensure smooth operations. Responsible for assisting servers in pre-bussing, clearing, cleaning, and setting tables/sections for seating of Guests. Perform and complete assigned side work during each shift. Complete opening and closing checklists, general cleaning tasks as needed. Maintain, clean, and stock service and dining areas as needed during entirety of shift. Monitor and observe Guests' dining experience. Ensure Guests are satisfied with the food and service. Respond promptly and courteously to any requests. Be ready and willing to assist fellow service team members before and when they ask. Thank Guests for their visit and invite them to return. Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement. Notify manager-on-duty any time a Guest is not 100% satisfied with their experience. Work efficiently and calmly in high pressure and high volume situations. Performs other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
Qualifications, Experience and Education:
Previous experience in restaurant or hospitality required. Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills. Strong guest relations skills to provide exceptional customer service. Ability to effectively communicate with guests, colleagues and management. Experience working in a team environment. Must have a High School diploma or GED. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Must be eligible to work in the United States. Must be 18 years of age or older as required by state law to serve alcoholic beverages. Must have the ability to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system.
Shift Flexibility:
Must be able to work different shifts, including holidays, nights and weekends. Must be able to work overtime as required.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to work in a standing position for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to work under stress, have excellent organizational skills and multi-task throughout shift. Must have a clean, professional appearance with excellent grooming habits. Be able to safely lift, carry up to 25 pounds.
Pay:
$14.00 - $16.00 per hour
