Host/Hostess Watkins Glen, NY From $16 an hour - Part-time, Full-time From $16 an hour - Part-time, Full-time Job description Dramatically set on the shores of Seneca Lake in the heart of Finger Lakes Wine Country, the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel is an award-winning, AAA Four Diamond property. Located in the village of Watkins Glen, our hotel offers the perfect vantage point from which to explore wine trails, craft breweries, distilleries, historic attractions, water-sports, outdoor adventure, and more!
JOB OVERVIEW
Greets guests dining in the restaurant outlets while coordinating activities of dining room personnel to provide fast and courteous service.

Restaurant Supervisor
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Include the following; however, other duties may be assigned. 1. Schedules dining reservations and arranges parties or special services for diners; communicating clearly in a professional manner according to appropriate etiquette. 2. Checks menus to ensure they are current, clean, plentiful, and wrinkle-free. 3. Greets guests promptly at maître stand, escorts them to tables, and provides menus. Ensuring that the table is clean and set before seating guests. 4. Ensures place settings are appropriate and each guest has a napkin, clean silverware, and any other item that is part of the standard place setting. 5. Notify server that you have seated guests in their station. 6. Follow opening procedures each morning and leave a clean and orderly work area for the next shift. 7. Resolve and adjust complaints of guests with courtesy, respect, and patience; involve supervisors as necessary. 8. Coordinates activities of dining room personnel to ensure prompt and courteous service to guests; updates seating chart and maintains rotation schedule; arranges tables, chairs, and settings when necessary to accommodate seating for groups with special needs. 9. Fill charge vouchers. 10. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors. 11. Exercise care when walking on wet floors. 12. Report all job safety hazards to supervisor. 2 REQUIRED
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have the ability to communicate in English both written and verbal. Self-starting personality with an even disposition. Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times. Must be willing to "pitch-in" and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player. Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of standing and/or walking. Good knowledge of proper bending, stooping and lifting up to 35 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

You should be adaptable to change in your work area and in hotel procedures with a willingness to learn new skills and/or improve existing ones, have the ability to solve routine problems that occur on the job and ask for help whenever you are not sure how to do something. Every associate should adhere to the hotel security policies and procedures, particularly regarding key controls, lifting heavy objects, using chemicals, and effectively reporting safety hazards and safety concerns.
