Position Summary:
The Kansas Soldiers' Home at Fort Dodge is looking for a dependable individual to work as a full-time Housekeeper in our Custodial department. Our residents are looking for someone who is friendly, attends work on time and regularly and wants to be a team member. Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Performs cleaning and sanitizing duties (e.g. sweeping, dusting, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming) to maintain buildings. Cleans and sanitizes work area and equipment. Develops and implements green cleaning and maintenance initiatives. Prepares guest rooms and cottages for occupancy. Performs minor building and grounds maintenance (i.e. changes light bulbs). Moves heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks. Empties trash receptacles. Sets up and tears down for special events. Locks and unlocks doors and secure buildings. Cleans up and disposes of bodily fluids.Qualifications:
Education High School education or equivalent Licensing & Certification N/A Minimum Qualifications Knowledge and ability to use machines and equipment required to maintain a clean and functional building Sufficient physical strength to stand the strain of working long hours at custodial tasks. General education with ability to read and understand and follow written and oral directions. Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements As authorized by the 2018 Kansas Legislature, effective July 1, 2018, K.S.A. 75-4362 is amended to designate all positions with the Kansas Commission on Veterans' Affairs office, to include both the Kansas Soldiers' Home and Kansas Veterans' Home as Safety Sensitive positions and subject to the drug testing program. All applicants with a conditional offer of employment on or after July 1, 2018, shall be required to submit to a drug screening test. Must successfully pass background check as required byK.S.A. 39-970.
