JOB SUMMARY
Cleans and services areas within the facility under the supervision of the Housekeeping Manager. Responsible for general building appearance and individual housekeeping services provided to each resident.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Cleans and services designated areas within the facility. Ensures that resident apartments, bathrooms, meeting rooms, lounges, halls, offices and common areas are maintained in superior condition. Cleans, mops and vacuums floors. Dusts furniture, equipment; high and low dusting of walls, etc. Cleans windows and sills; empties trash containers; arranges furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion. Scours and polishes bathtubs, sinks, mirrors and similar equipment. Replenishes and maintains adequate supplies of soap, paper towels and bath tissue in all common area bathrooms. Polishes brass; cleans and polishes glass panels in doors and partitions. Maintains utility storage areas in acceptable fashion. Ensures cleaning cart supplies are replenished and in good order. Other tasks as requested or assigned.
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Brooms, mops, dusters, dusting rags, cleaning solutions/chemicals; housekeeping carts, floor cleaning and polishing machines and equipment; other materials, equipment, cleaning supplies necessary to the performance of job duties of Housekeeper.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
Education and Experience High School graduate or GED. One year experience in performing duties of housekeeper in a business facility setting. Licenses and Certifications None Knowledge, skills and abilities Knowledge of general housekeeping procedures, and the ability to be trained to accurately operate equipment necessary to the function of job duties including, but not limited to, floor cleaning equipment and other general housekeeping equipment and supplies necessary for the performance of job duties. Ability to read printed and written material, including instructions for the operation of equipment, and use of cleaning supplies/chemicals necessary for the performance of job duties. Ability to be flexible in carrying out daily job duties, and able to organize and prioritize tasks. Knowledge of resident rights and the ability to respond to each resident with empathy and respect. Knowledge of policies, procedures, philosophies, rules and regulations governing the delivery of services to consumers. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, other departments, and consumers. Ability to deal courteously and diplomatically with consumers, visitors and staff.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING
Ability to see clearly generally and with close vision; ability to perceive colors; ability to hear in normal conversation and when using the telephone; ability to see normal printed and written data; ability to speak clearly and be understood; ability to speak English clearly and be understood; ability to handle small objects and to operate equipment necessary to the performance of job duties.
Skills:
Ability to handle a variety of equipment and cleaning supplies/chemicals necessary for the efficient and effective performance of duties of Housekeeper with knowledge of operation, safety and caution.
Lifting:
Frequent lifting of up to 35 pounds.
Reaching:
Frequent horizontal and vertical reaching.
Stooping/ Bending:
Frequent.
Standing/Sitting/ Walking:
Approximately 10% sitting, 90% standing/walking.
