Housekeeper

Overview The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. In a boarding school setting, the Housekeeper plays an important role in supporting student health, safety, and well-being by ensuring high standards of cleanliness across academic, residential, and common areas. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Cleaning & Sanitation Clean and maintain dormitories, classrooms, offices, bathrooms, and common areas Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect surfaces according to established schedules Replenish supplies such as soap, paper products, and hand sanitizer Properly use and store cleaning chemicals and equipment in compliance with safety guidelines Residential & Academic Support Clean student rooms and shared residential spaces as scheduled or during school breaks Support deep cleaning during opening, closing, and vacation periods Clean and maintain dormitories, classrooms, offices, bathrooms, and common areas during summer for camps and school staff use Respond to spills, messes, and urgent cleaning needs in a timely manner Prepare for and clean up after school events and special functions Oversee and maintain inventory of cleaning equipment and supplies Health & Safety Follow school policies related to health, safety, and infection control Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damage to supervisors promptly Support cleanliness standards that promote student wellness in a residential environment Professional Conduct Interact respectfully with students, faculty, staff, and visitors Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while working in student living spaces Serve as a positive and supportive presence within the school community Teamwork & Additional Duties Work collaboratively with facilities, maintenance, and other housekeeping staff Assist with special events, set-ups, and post-event cleaning as needed Perform other duties as assigned to support school operations QualificationsRequired Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, lifting, and walking for extended periods Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Dependability and punctuality Preferred Prior housekeeping or custodial experience, preferably in a school, dormitory, or institutional setting Knowledge of proper cleaning methods, equipment, and safety practices Personal Characteristics Reliable, hardworking, and self-motivated Respectful and courteous when working around students Able to work independently and as part of a team Takes pride in maintaining clean, orderly spaces Work Environment Boarding school campus with academic and residential buildings Schedule may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends Full-time year-round

Pay:

$16.00 - $20.00 per hour
