WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Housekeeping Director at Rush Creek Lodge manages the housekeeping department and leads a team of housekeepers who, together, are responsible for cleaning and maintaining our guest rooms, villas and other Lodge buildings on a daily basis. Our Housekeeping Director is a very hands-on position, leading daily room inspections and supporting staff as needed each day in both the housekeeping and laundry areas. The Housekeeping Director reports to our General Manager and Assistant General Manager and works closely with our other managers to ensure guests have a great experience with us. The right candidate has successfully led a housekeeping operation of scale and has experience establishing and maintaining standardized methods and processes that allow our housekeepers to efficiently clean rooms and provide guests with an exceptional housekeeping experience. The right candidate is also interested in creating a positive staff environment and fostering a staff that is warm, personable and extremely helpful to our guests. The Housekeeping Director coordinates staff work-plans, priorities, and works hands-on each day to prepare rooms and laundry for guests. They also set standards and maintain quality control for the Housekeeping Department and develop daily and periodic cleaning schedules and priorities. This person also maintains and orders departmental supplies and inventories. The Housekeeping Director also supports the growth and development of their team, enforces policies/standards, and handles progressive discipline and associated documentation. The Director is also highly involved in supporting our Youth Program through training and supervision of all housekeeping staff. The Housekeeping Director is a key part of the Lodge team and consistently interacts with and assists Lodge guests. The widespread nature of our property presents the Housekeeping Director with challenging logistics but also presents a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and our beautiful setting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Interview and hire housekeeping staff Train staff in housekeeping, guest service and safety standards Direct and support cleaning of guest rooms and public areas Maintain housekeeping equipment, laundry and storage areas Establish standardized processes and high cleanliness and safety standards to ensure an efficient, effective department Devise and execute operational enhancements and ways to improve the guest experience Manage departmental costs and maintain/order inventories and supplies Schedule staff and manage/monitor and report hours Create a positive and productive work environment Provide ongoing feedback and develop staff Enforce policies/standards, and manage progressive discipline & associated documentation Communicate professionally with all staff and management Perform other duties as assigned, including additional lodge support as needed
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED; college degree a plus Minimum 5 years prior housekeeping management experience; preferably at a hotel of scale Experience living/working in rural/remote environment Multi-lingual a plus
COMPETENCIES/REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Able to lead, inspire and manage a diverse team Exceptional verbal and written communication and relationship management skills for interacting with guests, staff and senior management Experience managing operational inventories & costs Organized with strong attention to detail and ability to effectively prioritize Exceptional hospitality skill and desire to please guests Skill in promoting a safe work environment to avoid injuries and accidents Leading a healthy, drug-free lifestyle Desire to live in a remote/rural environment Flexible with a "whatever it takes" attitude
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions Frequent walking, twisting, bending, reaching, sitting, climbing stairs Ability to stand and move continuously Working with required chemicals and PPE Lifting up to 50 pounds and moving carts weighing 300 pounds Work hours and schedule flexibility to support the needs of our multifaceted year-round hospitality businesses NOTE We are extremely proud of our highly diverse team and embrace diversity at all levels of the organization.
