Job Description

HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR JOB DESCRIPTION
____________________________________________________________________________ The purpose of this position is to implement and maintain effective, efficient systems to operate the housekeeping department in an efficient manner to safely meet residents' needs and comply fully with federal, state and local requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have at least 1 year managerial experience
PROFESSIONAL REQUIRMENTS
Experience in the various duties and governmental regulations necessary to manage a housekeeping department. Skilled at organizing various duties. Must be flexible and able to handle change easily and professionally. Must display a willingness to continue to study, learn and implement continuously changing state and federal regulations. Maintain a positive attitude. Communicate with residents, families and staff in a professional and tactful manner. Be a role model of professionalism and teamwork. Demonstrate good work and time management habits.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB
(with or without assistance): Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, grasping, pushing and pulling, fine hand coordination, ability to hear and respond to pages, ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and directions; ability to communicate with residents, families, personnel, vendors and consultants; ability to distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures; and the ability to remain calm under stress.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement housekeeping policies and procedures to meet residents' needs in compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Determine the personnel requirements for the housekeeping department and implement housekeeping policies and procedures. Develop and implement cleaning schedules for the housekeeping department. Interview and hire appropriate housekeeping individuals. Orient new associates to housekeeping duties. Lead in-service training programs for housekeeping associates. Supervise the entire operation of the housekeeping department. Order or requisition sufficient supplies to operate the housekeeping department. Maintain material data safety sheets. Organize and maintain all records housekeeping records. Supervise cleaning procedures in accordance with facility policy. Supervise waste disposal procedures in accordance with facility policy. Supervise proper care and use of housekeeping equipment. Identify and report to administration any areas of poor repair. To follow Residents' Rights policies at all times. To be responsible for the safety of residents related to housekeeping duties. To observe infection control procedures. To perform other duties as requested by management.
