Opportunity:
The Department of Housing Services is recruiting for a Housing Inspector - Unit Eligibility Specialist to work within the Rental Assistance Division to bolster our work of providing housing stability in Washington County. The position will conduct initial inspections, re-inspections, and annual inspections of housing units in our rental assistance programs. Additional inspections will be conducted as needed. The Housing Authority of Washington County (HAWC) administers Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and local rental assistance programs that require inspections of subsidized units. Referenced inspections are to meet NSPIRE Standards. Ideal Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Oregon Landlord/Tenant Laws, Section 504 reasonable accommodations, and fair housing laws. Federal and state regulations as they pertain to housing programs with focus on the Rental Assistance Division, NSPIRE, and Housing Authority policy as outlined in the Admin Plan. Construction methods, materials, terminology, and techniques. Building and mechanical trades as they pertain to residential construction and maintenance. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience:
Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent; AND One (1) year of work experience in building inspection, property management, building maintenance, or residential construction.
Special Qualifications:
Must possess a driver's license valid in the State of Oregon and have an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy. Possession or the ability to obtain within one (1) year, a professional certification through the National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate (NSPIRE). Must pass a criminal background check post-offer.
