AHSTW Excel Program:
Alternate Classroom
Purpose Statement:
The position of Excel Program Classroom Teacher has been established to meet the needs of our students who may need alternate programming as they grow in their understanding and pathway to graduation. Our program serves students in grade 10th - 12th grade.
Qualifications:
Iowa Teaching License HS Teaching Certification
Length of Service:
The number of work days are established by the Master agreement [189 days] and completed upon the design of our school calendar.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with the ability to build rapport with each student. Provide access to quality instructional support to students participating in a tailored education plan based on student interest and core requirements. Enhance classroom expectations through an effective classroom management system to enhance the learning environment for students. Create connections with
AHSTW CSD
classroom teacher to develop plans for return to in-person learning for students. Expose students to a rich learning environment throughout the day. Lead conversations with parents based on the overall attendance and progress their student in making Lead seminar activities or discussions on SEL, career learning, goal setting, etc. Ability to adapt and deliver programming to meet the diverse developmental needs of each child Work collaboratively with district staff using developmentally appropriate practices, learning centers, and both individual and small group instruction. Monitor student growth and success as they progress through on-line course instruction. Work with a team of staff members to ensure ongoing assessment of program and individual child progress. Provide supervision and direction to the activities of non-certified staff and volunteers working with children. Must hold a Mandatory Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Reporter Certificate prior to start data and remain current. Attendance and punctuality are a vital to ensuring consistency for our students' learning and the overall responsibilities of the position. Implementation of AHSTW's multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both behavior and academics. Support access for student's to their individual education plan, as needed. Other Duties as appropriate and assigned by the principal.

Ability to collaborate with staff and parents to create the best learning opportunity for students Proficiency in oral and written communication Knowledge and expertise in content and learning strategies at the middle school level Ability to maintain confidentiality Effective decision-making skills Able to maintain appropriate academic and evaluation records Be a Champion for our students!
Physical Requirements:
Successful candidates must have the ability to meet the needs of students in a safe manner. Needs of the position may include significant walking, bending, and standing to assist students in their daily needs.
