Job Description

Job Description Insight Global is seeking seeking an experienced HSE Manager to lead all health, safety, and environmental efforts on a large-scale pulp and paper facility demolition and renovation project with an estimated value of $200 million. This role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing site-wide HSE programs across demolition, construction, and renovation phases, while ensuring compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and client safety standards. The HSE Manager will serve as a visible, hands-on safety leader, working closely with project leadership, contractors, and craft workforce to maintain a zero-incident culture in an active industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and administer the site-specific HSE program for demolition, renovation, and construction activities within an operating or partially operating pulp and paper facility
  • Develop and enforce Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and permit-to-work systems for high-risk activities including confined space entry, hot work, heavy lifts, and demolition
  • Conduct regular site safety audits, inspections, and field observations, documenting findings and driving corrective actions to closure
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for OSHA, environmental agencies, and client safety representatives
  • Manage incident reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action plans for near-misses, first aids, recordables, and environmental events
  • Provide safety leadership to multiple contractors and subcontractors, ensuring alignment with project and owner safety expectations
  • Deliver site-wide safety orientations, toolbox talks, and leadership safety training
  • Monitor compliance with environmental requirements related to waste handling, asbestos/lead management, dust control, stormwater, and hazardous materials
  • Support emergency response planning, drills, and coordination with local emergency responders

  • 5•7+ years of progressive HSE experience in heavy industrial, manufacturing, pulp & paper, power, chemical, or large-scale construction environments•Proven experience supporting demolition and/or renovation projects valued at $100M+ preferred•Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, industrial safety standards, and environmental compliance requirements•Experience managing safety across multi-contractor job sites with large craft labor forces•Hands-on field presence with the ability to influence safe behaviors at all levels of the organization
