Job Description

Human Resources Generalist Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist (Benefits & Compliance) to join our team in Abingdon, MD. The HR Generalist supports daily HR operations with a focus on benefits administration and regulatory compliance. This role ensures accurate benefit delivery, maintains compliance with employment laws, and serves as a key resource for employees and managers.
Key Responsibilities:
Benefits Administration
  • Manage employee benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k), wellness)
  • Serve as primary contact for benefit questions and issue resolution
  • Coordinate and execute open enrollment
  • Process enrollments, changes, and terminations in HRIS/vendor systems
  • Educate employees on benefit options and programsCompliance
  • Ensure compliance with laws including FMLA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, and EEO
  • Monitor regulatory updates and recommend policy/process changes
  • Maintain accurate, confidential employee records
  • Support reporting (ACA, EEO-1) and auditsHR Generalist Support
  • Assist with onboarding/offboarding and benefit orientation
  • Support leave administration (FMLA, state leave, military leave)
  • Partner with payroll on deductions and data accuracy
  • Contribute to HR projects, audits, and process improvements
  • Support employee relations documentation as needed
Work Environment:
Office-based with potential hybrid flexibility; occasional extended hours during open enrollment or audits. Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field
  • 3-5 years of HR experience with benefits and compliance focus
  • Experience with HRIS and benefits systems
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and benefits regulations
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and confidentiality skills
Preferred Certifications:
SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR, or CEBS
