Currently we are looking for a Human Resources Generalist to join our growing team. Job Summary We are seeking a hands-on, organized, and proactive Human Resources Generalist to support all aspects of human resources for a growing company of under 50 employees. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both day-to-day HR administration and helping establish scalable HR systems, processes, and compliance practices to support future growth. The HR Generalist will serve as a trusted resource for employees and leadership while running the day-to-day functions of the Human Resource (HR) department. This includes ensuring employment law compliance, talent acquisition and onboarding, training, pay and benefit administration, coordinating company events, and preparing the organization for continued growth beyond 50 employees. This role requires someone who is comfortable working independently in a small-company environment, balancing administrative execution with process improvement and compliance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Human Resources Administration:
Serve as the primary HR point of contact for employees and managers. Conduct onboarding, offboarding, new hire documentation, and orientation. Maintain employee records and HRIS systems with accuracy and confidentiality. Coordinate benefits administration, enrollments, changes, and employee communication. Assist managers with the performance review process and determining wages to ensure all employees are receiving adequate feedback and are being compensated fairly and competitively. Process payroll with support from Finance. Participate as HR member for terminations as required. Ensure all documentation is accurate and in order prior to the separation. Maintain employee handbook, policies, and HR documentation.
Recruiting & Talent Acquisition:
Coordinate recruiting activities including job postings, candidate communication, interview scheduling, and onboarding. Support hiring managers throughout the recruitment process. Assist with workforce planning and staffing needs as the company grows. Help develop and improve onboarding and employee retention programs.
HR Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Maintain HR compliance documentation, personnel files, I-9 records, required postings, and training records. Support compliance related to wage and hour regulations, FLSA classifications, ADA, FMLA, OSHA coordination and training, anti-harassment training, and other employment requirements. Help prepare the organization for growth-related HR requirements as employee count increases above 50+ employees, including: FMLA applicability ACA tracking and reporting coordination Expanded employee policies and handbook requirements Enhanced documentation and compliance processes More formal performance management practices Assist leadership with employee relations matters and policy interpretation. •Please note: this role will have access to external HR support services for guidance on compliance and employment law.
Process Improvement & Organizational Growth:
Help establish scalable HR systems and processes appropriate for a growing organization. Recommend improvements to employee experience, communication, and HR workflows to management. Support Management when needed during employee relations investigations for the purpose of reaching resolutions that provide a healthy work environment. Includes recommended corrective action when required. Assist with development of job descriptions, organizational structure, and performance management systems. Track HR metrics and maintain organized documentation to support business decisions. Employee Engagement & Company Events Responsible for coordinating all company events/meetings, employee appreciation activities, holidays and celebrations, and team-building initiatives. Help foster a positive company culture and employee engagement experience. Coordinate internal employee communications related to company activities and HR initiatives. Partner with leadership to support morale, employee recognition, and workplace culture efforts.
Skills & Qualifications Required:
5-7+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a small business, engineering, manufacturing, industrial, or project-based environment. Experience supporting multiple HR functions including onboarding, benefits, recruiting, employee relations, and compliance. Thorough knowledge of employment law and HR compliance requirements. Experience in a growing company scaling from under 50 employees to 50+ employees. Experience maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive employee matters professionally. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Understanding of manufacturing safety program requirements. Experience coordinating employee engagement programs, internal communications, or company events. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently. Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to act with integrity, credibility, professionalism, and strict confidentiality. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR/payroll systems.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field Experience supporting HR compliance in a manufacturing, engineering, or technical environment. Experience with employee handbook development, policy implementation, and HR process creation. Familiarity with OSHA coordination, workplace safety administration, or training compliance. HR certification preferred but not required (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR).
