$180000 Vice President of Human Resources Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC) Lead with Purpose. Shape the Future of People & Culture. Chicanos Por La Causa is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and people-first Vice President of Human Resources to lead and evolve our HR function at enterprise scale. This is more than an HR leadership role—it's an opportunity to shape culture, strengthen communities, and empower a mission-driven workforce across a complex, multi-state nonprofit organization. The VP of HR will serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner, aligning people strategies with business priorities while ensuring compliance, operational excellence, and an exceptional employee experience. This leader will bring both vision and execution—someone who can think big, act decisively, and roll up their sleeves to drive meaningful change. What You'll Do Strategic Leadership & Culture Transformation Champion a forward-thinking HR strategy that drives organizational effectiveness, engagement, and impact Foster a high-performance, employee-centered culture where people thrive and feel valued Serve as a key voice in shaping organizational direction, strategy, and growth Operational Excellence & Innovation Oversee all HR functions, driving consistency, efficiency, and service excellence across the organization Leverage data and analytics to identify opportunities, solve complex workforce challenges, and mitigate risk Lead modernization efforts, including automation and HRIS optimization, to create a more agile and paperless environment Talent, Performance & Development Build and execute strategies to attract, develop, and retain top talent across a diverse workforce Partner with leadership to strengthen performance management, succession planning, and leadership development Create scalable systems that elevate employee experience and organizational capability Compliance, Risk & Governance Ensure full compliance with employment laws, regulations, and nonprofit operational requirements Provide expert guidance on employee relations, compensation, benefits, and policy development Partner closely with Compliance, Risk, and Safety leadership to proactively address organizational risks Mergers, Acquisitions & Growth Lead HR due diligence and integration efforts for mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships Ensure seamless employee transitions and alignment of culture, policies, and practices Leadership & Collaboration Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing HR team Collaborate across business units, programs, and leadership teams to deliver integrated solutions Build trust through authenticity, transparency, and sound judgment What You Bring Master's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Public Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience) 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including 5+ years leading HR in a large, complex organization (~2,000+ employees) Strong background in nonprofit operations, including grants, contracts, and regulatory environments Proven ability to balance strategy with execution—you can design the roadmap and drive the work Deep expertise in employment law, compliance, and risk mitigation Experience leading enterprise HR transformations, process improvements, and system implementations Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
Preferred:
