SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION
The Eagle County School District seeks a visionary and strategic Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to lead and advance a comprehensive people and talent strategy that ensures every school is staffed with exceptional educators, leaders, and support professionals. As a key member of the Superintendent's leadership team, the CHRO will provide leadership for all aspects of human resources while helping to cultivate a high-performing, inclusive, and student-centered organization. The CHRO will oversee systems and practices that attract, develop, support, and retain outstanding employees and will play a critical role in strengthening organizational culture, leadership development, workforce sustainability, and employee engagement across the district. The CHRO serves as a trusted advisor to the Superintendent and Board of Education on personnel matters and works collaboratively with district leaders to align talent strategies with Eagle County Schools' mission of preparing all students to succeed in a changing world.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic and Visionary Leadership Serve as a member of the Superintendent's executive leadership team. Advise the Superintendent and Board of Education on personnel matters, workforce trends, organizational effectiveness, and talent strategy. Develop and implement long-term workforce strategies aligned with district goals and priorities. Lead succession planning, leadership development, and talent pipeline initiatives to ensure future organizational capacity. Collaborate with district and community partners to address workforce opportunities and challenges unique to Eagle County. Talent Acquisition and Workforce Development Oversee recruitment, hiring, onboarding, retention, and workforce planning for licensed, classified, administrative, and substitute staff. Develop innovative recruitment and retention strategies that position the Eagle County School District as an employer of choice. Support leadership development and professional growth opportunities for employees across the organization. Build systems that identify, develop, and support emerging leaders throughout the district. Workplace Culture and Employee Experience Foster a positive, collaborative workplace culture where employees feel valued, supported, connected, and empowered to do their best work on behalf of students. Lead initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, organizational health, and workplace belonging. Promote a culture of professionalism, accountability, continuous improvement, and service. Support district leaders in building strong teams and positive working environments. Human Resources Operations and Compliance Ensure equitable, legally compliant, and effective employment practices. Maintain job descriptions, classification systems, and licensure compliance. Lead employee relations efforts including investigations, discipline, conflict resolution, and contract interpretation. Participate in and lead negotiations and collaborative processes with employee associations and bargaining units. Oversee salary schedules, contracts, and wage administration. Administer employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement, workers' compensation, and unemployment. Ensure accurate payroll processing, personnel records management, and state and federal reporting compliance. Develop and manage the Human Resources budget. Oversee evaluation systems and performance management processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or PHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent HR leadership certification preferred. Extensive experience in progressively responsible human resources leadership roles. Experience in K-12 or public-sector environments and labor relations strongly preferred. Demonstrated willingness to take personal initiative to define issues and needs and follow through with solutions. Demonstrated skills in successfully working with a variety of people in complex situations.
