  • YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The primary responsibilities of this role, Human Resources Business Partner, Pharmaceuticals are to: Works closely with senior management in specific business units or regions to develop and implement medium to long-term HR solutions aligned with business strategy.
Provides HR consulting and coaching by collaborating with business leaders to address significant people and cultural issues, offering expertise in hiring, termination, performance management, and rewards. Enables business change by supporting the talent aspects of organizational structure changes and facilitating talent integration during mergers and acquisitions. Collaborates with centralized HR professionals who specialize in particular functions for additional support. The incumbent for this position will need to be based in Cambridge (Boston), the United States (USA)and will be a part of a strong team of diverse strategic HR Business Partners and will be supported by experts in Total Rewards, Talent Impact, country HR People Partners and our HR Foundation Team in the design and execution of the overall talent agenda of the Pharma client group areas. At least 20% of the scope of this individual's portfolio will be dynamic in nature, adjusting based on key business needs, to ensure talent fluidity towards most important priorities. These may be decided on the basis of 90-day cycles or longer, depending on the business need/asks. As HR Business Partner for Pharma R D in Boston, you will serve as the primary strategic HR Business Partner for R D at the site by providing strategic HR support to leaders and Pharma Product Teams. As part of the Site Leadership Team, you will be the main HR point of contact for the Boston Site, supporting the strengthening of Bayer's scientific and innovation presence at the BRIC site. The role is part of the global PH HR Business Partner pod for R D, ensuring close alignment with enterprise-wide people, talent, and organizational priorities and outcomes. You will maintain meaningful connects with RED ONC and
RED CVRI
leadership as well as Drug Discovery, Preclinical Development, DS&AI, Regulatory and Clinical Development.
  • Own and Lead People Strategy
  • : drive the people strategy for dedicated leadership teams within professional homes or Product Teams within the global Pharma organization - impacting business outcomes while optimizing productivity, innovation, and employee fulfillment.
  • Co-Accountable for Talent & Culture
  • : being co-accountable for talent, leadership, culture and organizational impact on business strategy, you diagnose and analyze the organizational state and co-create and drive the talent, organizational and culture agenda while fostering a diverse, inclusive and highly innovative work environment.
  • Organizational Effectiveness
  • : spearhead the delivery of organizational effectiveness / efficiency and change management solutions in line with DSO principles, addressing high-sensitivity topics with strategic importance.
  • Strategic Skills Planning
  • : lead strategic skills planning and upskilling initiatives for the global Pharma R D organization as well as partner closely with dedicated leadership teams and product teams. Secure the right skills, behavior and mindset at any given time in the face of disruption of technology and ever-changing markets, to further develop and maintain a performance and innovation-driven business culture.

More specifically:
1. Strategic HR Business Partnering for Pharma R D + Act as a trusted HR co-pilot to Pharma R D leadership and contribute to shaping a high-performing organization in Boston as well as globally for the benefit of advancing our R D pipeline; + Support local leaders on organizational design, capability building, succession planning, and leadership development; + Lead strategic workforce and capability planning for these functions, ensuring Boston activities align with the broader Innovation Strategy; + Drive consistent strategic translation of business priorities as well as smooth execution of global HR processes and initiatives; + Strengthen leadership effectiveness, team development, and feedback culture. 2. Boston Site HR Leadership + Serve as Pharma HR contact for the Boston Site Leadership, ensuring HR topics are surfaced, assessed, and connected back into global HR governance; + Coordinate HR-related matters across the local and global HR ecosystem for Boston-based talent; + Support the onboarding, integration and scaling of new teams as Boston's R D footprint continues to grow; + Connect site-level initiatives (e.g. culture, ways of working) with global Pharma (R D) frameworks; + Maintain close working relationships with leaders based in Boston to ensure alignment on workforce planning, local talent strategies, and cross-functional collaboration; + Support local Boston-related needs that intersect with the broader R D leadership community. 3. Talent Ecosystem, External Partnerships & University Engagement + Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and Employer Branding teams to strengthen Boston-based talent pipeline; + Support relationships with universities, postdoctoral programs, and local scientific communities to increase Bayer's visibility and attract top-tier talent; + Identify opportunities to build a sustainable, long-term talent ecosystem aligned with scientific capability needs.
  • WHO YOU ARE
  • Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
  • Required Qualifications:
  • + Extensive HR Business Partner experience in complex, matrixed, local and global organizations; + Proven outcome track record in talent, team and organizational development, performance and effectiveness including measurable engagement, retention, and workforce outcomes; + Deep understanding of business and industry drivers, customer value, and value-chain dynamics; + Long-term professional experience as HR Business Partner, preferably with local and global scope in complex, matrixed organizations; + Strong strategic thinker and team player, able to navigate ambiguity and leverage the full HR ecosystem; + Ability to synthesize complex information and translate insights into impactful actions; + Influential leader and trusted sparring partner to senior leaders; able to challenge, coach, and drive change without formal authority; + Lifelong learner with high self-awareness, humility, and strong experience supporting scientific or innovation-driven functions.
+ Ability to operate in a complex matrix and influence without formal authority.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • + Familiarity with the Boston biotech/pharma ecosystem is highly advantageous; + Master's degree in HR, business, psychology, social sciences, law, or a comparable field; + Prior experience partnering closely with US-based leadership teams in growth or transformation contexts is highly advantageous.
Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $140,720 to $211,080. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
