Job Description

About Us Rho is the modern banking platform built for startups. Open accounts in minutes, issue cards, manage expenses, pay bills, and close the books - all in one connected platform backed by real human support. Most companies think hiring is a volume game. We think it's about precision. In a time when AI is changing engineering exponentially , we think talent should follow suit. The role You'll spend the internship building software that changes how a company finds, evaluates, and hires people. Not "HR tech" in the boring sense — actual tools: an AI engine that reads a career and pulls out what matters, automation that erases coordination busywork, a system that learns from its own hiring mistakes and gets sharper over time. We run a deliberately lean talent function. That only works if it's heavily leveraged by good tooling. You're the person who builds that leverage. If you're a CS or data person who assumed "recruiting" had nothing for you, read the next section before you close the tab. This role will follow a full-time schedule, 5 days a week and report to Rho's VP of People & Talent. What you'll actually build You'll rotate through real projects with real users (us). A few examples of what's on the table: Teach a model to read a career. Build an AI engine that takes a person's messy, unstructured work history and extracts the core competencies that actually predict whether they'll be great here — turning résumés into structured signal instead of vibes. Kill the scheduling tax. Interview coordination is a swamp of calendars, time zones, and back-and-forth. Automate it away so the humans only spend time on judgment, not logistics. Make the process learn. Build a tool that tracks how people perform once they're in the seat, finds where our interviews failed to predict that, and feeds it back so the next interview loop is better than the last. A closed feedback loop on hiring quality.
The throughline:
we want a small team to hire like a much larger one. You're building the system that makes that possible. What we're looking for You build things. Side projects, scripts, scrappy tools, that one app you made to solve your own problem — we care more about what you've shipped than where you studied. You move fast with AI tooling. You reach for Claude / Cursor / agents to gain leverage and you've got taste about when to trust them and when not to. You'll have our internal AI and agent infrastructure to build on top of. You're comfortable in code and data. CS, data science, or a related path is the easiest fit, but we're genuinely open — if you can read a problem, model it, and build something that works, your major matters less. You think in systems. You see a manual, repetitive process and your instinct is to ask why a human is still doing it. You're resourceful when the spec is fuzzy. These problems aren't fully defined yet. That's the point. You do not need any background in HR, recruiting, or "people ops." No prior exposure can be an advantage. Why this is worth your summer You ship. Your work goes into production and gets used, not into a deck that dies in a drawer. Real ownership. Small team, work directly with Rho's VP of People & Talent, short distance from idea to shipped. Rare problem space. AI applied to a domain many engineers never touch — you'll build a portfolio nobody else has. Fintech at scale. Rho is a B2B fintech building the finance platform for the most innovative startups on the market. Real users, real stakes. Preference will be given to recents grads , but candidates graduating between Fall of 2026 and Spring of 2027 will be considered. High performers will be considered for immediate conversion by the end of the summer. Compensation for this role will vary, but our target is between $30 and $45 per hour. Start ASAP .
