The Vice President for Human Resources will: Drive a forward-thinking, data-informed HR strategy that supports growth, innovation, and workforce excellence Partner directly with the President and senior leaders to shape organizational culture and effectiveness Champion a workplace that attracts, develops, and retains top talent in a highly competitive environment Strengthen alignment with the South Dakota Board of Regents while advancing DSU's distinct mission What You'll Do Lead and modernize all HR functions, including: Talent acquisition and retention Workforce planning and culture Employee relations and engagement Compliance and policy leadership Serve as a trusted, strategic advisor to executive leadership on all people-related matters Build a high-performing HR team focused on innovation, service, and continuous improvement Foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, and engagement across campus Support leadership development and succession planning for the next generation of campus leaders What We're Looking For We're seeking a collaborative, visionary leader who brings: Five or more years' experience in an HR leadership role A bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field The ability to influence, partner, and lead at the executive level Strong judgment, integrity, and a commitment to service Deep knowledge of employment practices, compliance, and organizational development Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree and/or SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent credentials Experience in higher education or the public sector
