The Director of People and Culture serves as the senior People and Culture leader for the property — a strategic partner to the Managing Director and Property Leadership Team. This role champions a people-first culture while ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and alignment with Makeready's Guiding Principles. Requested Tasks Lead all People + Culture operations in alignment with Makeready standards and policies Partner closely with the Vice President of People + Culture on audits, initiatives, and strategic programs Drive continuous improvement efforts to strengthen people practices and organizational effectiveness Lead and mentor on-property People + Culture team members (if applicable) Coach department leaders on People best practices and leadership effectiveness Guide leaders in effective recruiting, interviewing, and selection practices Build and maintain strong candidate pipelines through proactive recruiting and community engagement Ensure a consistent, hospitality-driven candidate and onboarding experience Partner with leadership to drive high levels of team member engagement Oversee engagement survey action planning and execution Advise on performance management, corrective action, and development planning Ensure investigations and terminations are handled appropriately and escalated when necessary Maintain strong knowledge of employment laws and regulatory requirements Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws Oversee accurate documentation of employee relations matters, leaves, and accommodations Safeguard confidentiality and integrity of all team member information Serve as a culture ambassador across meetings, interviews, onboarding, and daily operations Requested Capabilities Prior experience as a property-level People + Culture Director or Manager required Strong knowledge of Human Resources practices, employment law, and employee relations Experience leading and developing People + Culture or HR teams preferred Proven ability to build trusted partnerships with executive and operational leaders Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook Highly organized, detail-oriented, and analytical Exceptional discretion and ability to manage confidential information Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills Professional, emotionally intelligent leadership style Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds Commitment to adhering to Makeready's Guiding Principles and property policies and procedures As part of Makeready, we offer a benefits experience designed with intention—supporting the full life of our team, not just their time at work.
