Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President of Human Resources will serve as a key member of the leadership team, responsible for developing and executing human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of this international 150-person organization. This role requires a strategic yet hands-on leader who can design, implement, and oversee programs and initiatives that align with our organizational goals. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of HR best practices, experience in managing change, and a commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment. This organization expects to double in size in the next 5 years through organic growth and acquisitions.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement HR strategies that align with the organization's mission, vision, and strategic goals. Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and leadership team on all human capital matters, including organizational design, talent management, and succession planning. Drive the evolution of the HR function to support organizational growth, including the upgrading of processes, systems, and tools.
Tactical Execution:
Oversee the implementation of HR programs, policies, and initiatives that enhance employee engagement, retention, and organizational performance. Lead the development of a robust talent management strategy, including recruitment, performance management, learning and development, and employee relations. Manage day-to-day HR operations, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations while maintaining the organization's values and culture.
Change Management:
Lead the HR function in managing organizational change, including the design and implementation of change management strategies that address the human aspects of change. Facilitate communication and collaboration across all levels of the organization to ensure smooth transitions during periods of change.
Community and Employee Relations:
Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture that reflects the organization's values and commitment to the community and its clients. Act as a champion for employee engagement, ensuring that employees feel valued, heard, and supported. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including community partners, to support the organization's mission.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure that all HR practices comply with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Develop and oversee programs that mitigate risk and promote ethical behavior throughout the organization.
HR Team Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and develop the HR team, ensuring that they have the tools and resources needed to support the organization's goals. Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the HR function, encouraging innovation and best practices.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred. A minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Proven experience in both strategic HR leadership and hands-on HR management. Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and regulatory compliance. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across the organization. Experience in a non-profit environment and familiarity with the unique challenges and opportunities of working within a mission-driven organization is preferred. Demonstrated ability to manage change and foster a positive organizational culture. High level of integrity, with a commitment to ethical leadership and decision-making.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Operate primarily in a climate-controlled office environment with a fast-paced workflow, requiring the ability to shift between tasks, manage frequent interruptions, and meet time-sensitive deadlines efficiently. Regular, punctual attendance is essential for maintaining efficient service delivery.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Frequent walking, standing, bending, squatting, reaching, and twisting. Regular use of office equipment and handling of documents as part of daily tasks.
