Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a Bilingual Benefits Specialist for a direct hire opportunity with a Fresh Produce Distribution/Agribusiness organization in Oxnard, CA. This onsite role is ideal for a hands-on benefits professional who is fluent in Spanish and highly experienced in leave of absence administration, employee benefits, retirement plans, and employee communication. The Bilingual Benefits Specialist will serve as a key resource for employees across multiple locations, helping team members understand and access their benefits while ensuring compliant and accurate administration of leave, medical benefits, 401k plans, deferred compensation, and related programs. This role reports to the Director of Human Resources and offers the opportunity to take ownership of important benefits processes in a stable, people-focused HR environment. This is a strong fit for someone who enjoys being a trusted HR partner, communicating with employees at all levels, and working in a collaborative environment with supportive leadership. The company values clear communication, practical problem-solving, and a service-focused approach to supporting employees, including team members who may not regularly use email and require phone, mail, or paper-based communication. Key Responsibilities
  • Manage leave of absence administration for the company and multiple locations, including medical leaves, FMLA, state leave programs, absence management, vendor coordination, and ADA accommodation requests.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including medical plans, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, deferred compensation, 401k plans, and related plan processes.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee benefits questions, communicating clearly with new hires, active employees, COBRA participants, and employees with status changes.
  • Manage open enrollment, carrier renewals, employee communications, benefits meetings, vendor relationships, invoice review, and internal benefits updates.
  • Support plan compliance, audits, testing, 401k committee activities, 5500 filings, discrimination testing, and regulatory requirements related to ERISA, FMLA, HIPAA, FLSA, IRS, and DOL guidelines.
  • Coordinate benefits communications through multiple channels, including phone calls, paper documentation, FedEx tracking, intranet postings, newsletters, and onsite meetings. Compensation and Benefits
