Benefits Leave and WC Injury Specialist Human Resources Req # 18049 Full Time, Days, 40 HR Days 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Hours Per pay

40 HR This is a temporary position covering an employee on leave/vacancy. There are no benefits/PL associated with this role.
POSITION SUMMARY
Coordinates the support for all leave of absence cases and workers' compensation claims. Effectively coordinates all cases/claims to include general administration, comprehensive case management and program compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act, American's Disability Act, Worker's Compensation and all related employment laws. Works primarily with TPA's, FMLA/Disability system and Worker's Compensation carrier. Performs exemplary customer service and assistance to employees, HR business partners, and managers.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
Minimum associate's degree. Four-year degree preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
EXPERIENCE
3-5 years Human Resources experience in order to effectively carry out the duties and responsibilities of the job. Experience including, but not limited to benefits administration, managing leave of absences cases (FMLA/Disability/ADA) and Worker's Compensation claims case management.
COMPETENCIES
Strong PC skills with demonstrated proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Outlook and Internet. Comprehensive understanding of
FMLA, CT
FMLA, ADA and Worker's Compensation laws, benefit policies and administration. Ability to demonstrate effective time management skills, with ability to meet deadlines, and to manage assigned projects/tasks from initiation to completion as required, and with a sense of urgency, if necessary Independent judgment and thinking; demonstrates initiative, strong verbal and written communication skills; and exhibits professionalism in dealing with others (internally and externally). Ability to communicate and make recommendations to upper management. Ability to identify basic problems and procedural irregularities, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Proficient in excel, vlookups, pivot tables, teams, word, power point and office 365 (outlook) ]

Serve as the subject matter expert for the leave, FMLA/CTFMLA, ADA and Worker's Compensation programs. Interprets and administers leave programs and policies in accordance with the applicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc.) Responsible for administrative details involving FMLA, disability (STD/LTD) and Worker's Compensation. Which include entering and maintaining WC vendor website, utilizing available reports, and creating original reports as needed from internal databases to respond to requests for information, and may provide analysis as appropriate. Administers all aspects of leave and work-related injuries to include tracking the hours used/taken and working closely with the Managers and Payroll to ensure that pay for employees is accurate and correct. Tracks OSHA reportable claims. Liaison to work with managers and HRBP in regard to ADA (i.e. work arrangements or and/or Fit for Duty liaison.
ADA Administration:
Counsel and assist faculty and staff regarding the ADA process, including interpreting policies, procedures, and regulations. Maintains appropriate contact with all associates on FMLA/Worker's Compensation and coordinates all aspects of return to work for associates on leave. Assist with managing STD/LTD programs and vendor relationships. Ensures that CTPFMLA and STD claims are coordinated with FMLA or general medical cases. Partners closely with HRBPs on all related cases/claims. Meets regularly to review the status of cases/claims and develop legally sound strategies for a mutually beneficial resolution. Performs all other duties as assigned or required.
