Job Description

The Employee Benefits Analyst plays a critical role in delivering data‑driven insights and financial analysis to support employer clients with complex employee benefits programs. This position is responsible for analyzing renewal and proposal data, monitoring claims and utilization trends, and developing clear, actionable reporting that informs benefits strategy and decision‑making. Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Analytical Services, the Analyst serves as a primary analytical resource for a dedicated book of clients, supporting benefit programs across group medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, life, disability, and related offerings. The Analyst collaborates closely with Benefit Consultants, Account Management, carriers, and vendors to develop competitive RFPs, evaluate proposals, support negotiations, and deliver structured financial reporting. Success in this role requires strong analytical capability, attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment, and the skill to translate complex financial and claims data into meaningful insights that support cost‑effective, compliant, and sustainable benefit strategies.
Your Impact:
Develop and prepare Request for Proposal (RFP) materials for distribution to applicable carriers across the client's benefits portfolio. Review, analyze, and prepare comparative spreadsheets summarizing proposals received in response to RFPs. Support and participate in carrier negotiations in partnership with the Lead Consultant on behalf of clients. Prepare comprehensive renewal analyses for all benefit plans that are not competitively bid. Monitor claims experience and utilization trends and provide regular reporting and analysis to clients and internal teams. Attend and periodically present at client meetings, committee meetings, Council meetings and other scheduled forums. Develop and support the delivery of client presentations related to recommended services, program performance, and renewal outcomes. Create and deliver scheduled and ad hoc management reporting for clients. Collaborate with Benefit Consultants in the strategic planning and design of client benefit programs. Review, manage carrier contracts, documents, and agreements according to established timelines. Create financial reports for management and clients across all funding arrangements, including fully insured and self‑funded plans. Request and review compliance‑related documentation, including 112.08 filings, OPEB reports, and imputed income analyses. Support client needs related to compliance, legislation, healthcare reform, due diligence, HRAs, and HSAs. Communicate effectively with carriers, vendors, clients, and internal stakeholders to support accurate and timely delivery of services.
Successful Candidates Will Have:
Intermediate knowledge of employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, life, and disability plans. Intermediate knowledge of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), COBRA, and related federal and state regulations governing employee benefits administration. Strong ability to perform data and financial analysis across renewal, claims, and utilization reporting. Ability to interpret complex financial and healthcare data and translate insights into clear, actionable recommendations. High level of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in complex analytical work. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast‑paced, client‑driven environment. Strong organizational, time‑management, and problem‑solving skills. Self‑motivated and proactive in identifying issues and developing solutions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint), with advanced functionality in Microsoft Excel. Strong analytical aptitude, including proficiency in mathematics and critical thinking. Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present analytical findings. Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with clients, consultants, carriers, vendors, and internal teams. Working knowledge of AI‑enabled productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot. Ability to handle sensitive financial and benefits data with discretion and confidentiality. Ability to travel locally and regionally as required. Active FL Life & Health license or the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four‑year college or university, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Business Administration, or Public Health. Equivalent work experience in a role heavily focused on financial, analytical, or quantitative data may be considered in lieu of a degree. Minimum of 3 years of experience in employee benefits within a brokerage firm, insurance carrier, consulting firm, or related industry. Experience working with both fully insured and self‑funded benefit plans preferred. Exposure to public sector or complex employer benefit environments is a plus. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas and large data sets. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint). Working knowledge of benefits compliance and regulations, including ACA, COBRA, and related federal/state requirements. Familiarity with benefits administration reports, claims data, and carrier documentation.
