General Statement of Duties:
The Reengagement Specialist works directly with first-time full-time students who have been administratively withdrawn due to non-registration. This role provides proactive outreach, individualized coaching, and referrals that support students in returning to Worcester State University. By addressing barriers to re-enrollment, including financial, academic, and personal challenges, the Reengagement Specialist helps students chart a pathway back into higher education and persistence toward degree completion.
Responsibilities:
Identify and maintain a caseload of first-time and full-time students who have been administratively withdrawn or are not currently registered but have indicated intent or potential to return. Conduct proactive outreach through phone, text, email, and in-person meetings to re-engage students. Assess individual barriers to re-enrollment, including financial aid, academic standing, holds, and personal circumstances. Develop individualized reengagement plans that connect students to the appropriate campus resources (Financial Aid, Registrar, Bursar, Retention Office, etc.). Provide coaching on goal setting, time management, and pathways to academic recovery. Coordinate with Financial Aid and Student Accounts to support resolution of balances or aid-related barriers. Collaborate with Registrar and Academic Success to ensure smooth re-entry processes. Document outreach, case notes, and outcomes in Starfish or relevant student success platforms. Track and report re-enrollment, persistence, and completion outcomes for this student population. Support outreach campaigns aimed at increasing awareness of reengagement opportunities, including scholarships or grants designed to support stop-out students.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Social Work, or related field. Experience working in student success, advising, or case management roles. Strong communication and outreach skills (phone, text, email, and in-person). Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with at-risk populations. Knowledge of barriers that impact college persistence (financial, academic, personal, and social).
