Job Description

Workers' Compensation Claims Specialist (Temporary)
Location:
Wayne, MI (Onsite)
Pay:
$28.87/hour We are hiring an experienced Workers' Compensation Claims Specialist for a temporary, plant-based role in Wayne, MI. This position is ideal for professionals skilled in claims management, loss cost control, and customer service within a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a full caseload of workers' compensation claims, including lost time and complex cases Investigate claims, gather facts, and assess exposure to determine liability Develop and execute action plans to ensure timely, cost-effective claim resolution Set and manage claim reserves; ensure accuracy throughout the lifecycle Process benefit payments, adjustments, and settlements within authority limits Prepare and submit state filings in compliance with deadlines and regulations Coordinate vendors for investigations, medical reviews, and legal support Drive cost containment through strategic claim handling and vendor partnerships Manage recoveries including subrogation, Second Injury Fund, and offsets Communicate claim updates with employees, plant leadership, and stakeholders Maintain accurate documentation and ensure claims systems are up to date
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred 3-5 years of workers' compensation claims handling experience Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Proven ability to manage high-volume, complex claims independently
