Job Description

Company Overview:
Adapted Advantage is an Adult Day Program for individuals with intellectual disabilities. We focus on community integration through recreational, choice, and interest-based activities. Our staff are committed to providing high-quality service for the individuals we serve and uphold professional standards in all interactions with guardians, state and county representatives, and coworkers.
Position Overview:
The Activity Specialist at Adapted Advantage is a full-time, entry-level role responsible for creating and facilitating daily experiences for the participants of our program. This position requires daily driving and hands-on involvement in our community-based opportunities that happen throughout Lake, Summit, and Cuyahoga Counties. Thorough, on-site, paid training will be provided to ensure our next Activity Specialist is prepared and successful. Candidate Qualifications:
Possess a positive attitude and outgoing personality. Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and risk management skills. Self-starter, creative, and able to take a proactive approach with redirecting participant behavior. Ability to be assertive and authoritative while maintaining professionalism and compassion for the participants we serve. Willingness to work with participants who have the potential to be physically aggressive, verbally aggressive, and sometimes self-injurious (training provided).
Position Requirements:
Ability to be physically active throughout the workday including (but not limited to) pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, and walking. Comfortable working within a laid-back environment with an ability to be versatile when plans change. Ability to clear all Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) screening and background check with no disqualifying offenses. Good Driving Record with less than 6 points. Ability to pass a required drug test. Ability to bend, kneel, and lift 50 pounds.
Pay & Benefits:
Starting pay: $18.00/hour Pay increases to $20.00/hour after 60 days Weekly pay First shift only Benefits available after 90 Days Benefits include: Paid Time-Off; Paid Holidays; Vision, Dental, and Medical Insurance; 401k with an employer match •Please do not call regarding this position.
