No Location CountyAlbany Street Address80 South Swan Street CityAlbany StateNY Zip Code12210 Job Specifics Duties DescriptionThe New York State Senate is seeking applications for a motivated, organized and detail oriented individual to fill a position in our Personnel Office - Employee Benefits Assistant. The professional for this role will be responsible for creating a positive environment for our employees, both in person and over the phone. Responsibilities in this dynamic role include (but are not limited to):
  • Advising employees on all benefit issues related to health insurance, life insurance, retirement, long term disability, deferred compensation, dental and vision care coverage.
  • Acting as a liaison between employees and NYS Department of Civil Service, NYS Employees' Retirement System, NYS Deferred Compensation Plan, Davis Vision Care Plan and numerous Health Insurance carriers.
  • Ensure enrollment and changes to all benefits are processed timely and accurately using two enrollment systems.
  • Resolve claim issues with all benefit carriers.
  • Prepare correspondence on behalf of employees.
  • Advocate and provide support for employees in matters that are highly personal and confidential. Minimum QualificationsTo move forward, you must have:
  • An associate's degree or higher
  • Experience working in a Personnel Office setting
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A strong attention to detail
  • Ability to be a team player. The most qualified candidates will have experience with:
  • Health Benefits Administration (HBA)
  • New York Benefits Eligibility and Accounting System (NYBEAS)
  • New York State & Local Retirement System (NYSLRS - online) Additional CommentsSalary range is $50,000 to $55,000, commensurate with education and experience.
